The No Pants Subway Ride 2011

The No Pants Subway Ride is annual event staged by Improve Everywhere every January in New York City. The mission started as a small prank with seven guys and has grown into an international celebration of silliness, with dozens of cities around the world participating each year. The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants do not behave as if they know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.

for someone it may be culture shock but participate enjoy it .

Martinez said, "They’re like, why are you wearing no pants? I’m like, ‘it got kinda hot like in the USA’."

"Some people looked with disgust, some people they liked it, they enjoyed it, they smiled, it’s pretty good time," said Petra.

This year in No Pants Subway Ride, 3,500 people participated in New York and thousands more in 48 cities across the globe. But the first ride included 7 participants, all male. One participant entered the train pantless for 7 consecutive stops. They pretended not to notice each other, and if asked claimed that they "just forgot" their pants. On the 8th stop, someone came through with a duffle bag selling pants for $1. No photographs were taken .
